Fiat
FIAPL which is now a joint venture between Fiat and Tata Motors was founded in 1997. Earlier, some versions of the Fiat 500 in India were manufactured from 1951 by Premier Automobiles Limited, a company founded in 1944. For the Indian market Fiat builds the Grande Punto and the Linea, while it also imports internationally popular models like the 500. Fiats earlier plant used to be in Mumbai, but has now been shifted to Ranjangaon near Pune, Maharashtra where the company also manufactures the Tata Indica. |
