Overview:
Nissan X-Trail is certainly one of the best cars in India. It can be entitled as a powerful Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) that was launched on the Indian roads in 2004. This diesel driven vehicle was designed to suit any type of roads as it is empowered by an engine that is capable of delivering high output. It looks very stylish. The only draw back is being too boxy.
This compact SUV was awarded the top honors in many countries around the world such as ’Best Recreational Vehicle’ in the UK, ’Internet Car of the Year’ in Japan, ’Best Product for Customers’ in Mexico and ’Best Small SUV’ in Dubai.
Design and Features:
This off-roader is stylishly designed. The lines from the front to the rear, the Bi-xenon head lamps, the front grille, elegant tail lights give a beautified look to the vehicle.
Nissan X-trail is featured with a fashionable body and elegant interiors. It can accommodate 5 adults spaciously with a lot of headroom and legroom for all its occupants. It offers sufficient room for spreading tired legs. The rear seats can be folded completely to provide a lot of room for luggage. The seats are well positioned for easy entry and exit. They also have hot and cool boxes along with the cup holders. The surfaces are made with water repellant materials to make them washable. It also features an innovative central instrument display. It has lot of storage options.
This sedan, for the safety of the driver and passengers, offers safety features like Brake Assist (BA), Ventilated Disc Brakes, Dual Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Air bags, Anti-Theft device, CSR Halogen Headlights, front seatbelt pretensioner, head restraints and three point seatbelts for three seats. Only the top-end variant is equipped with other safety features like Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Stabilization Programme (ESP).
Driving abilities and comfort:
Nissan X-Trail provides a refined drive and reduces vibrations on both on and off-roads owing to the suspension at the front, the multi-link system at the rear.
The advanced four wheel drive system, the ultra comfortable seats, the unobstructed view of the road ahead from the driver’s seat, the handy Air-Conditioner and the 2-DIN music system (to the driver), add to the driving abilities. The suspension, the standard dual air bags, the advanced braking system technologies make the drive controlled and safe. The driver is given the choice of selection between 6- speed manual transmission and 4- speed automatic transmission.
The comfort features with which the X-Trail is equipped are central meter display, keyless entry, auto lock system, 4 spoke power steering, power steering, rare defogger with and timer and external temperature meter.

The X-trail comes with an in-line four cylinder engine displacing 2184ccs. The 16 Valve engine It has a Double Overhead Cam Shaft (DOHC).The direct injection common rail fuel injection engine Produces a maximum power of 136 PS or 100kw at 4000 rpm. The engine has a torque of 314Nm or 32kgm. The Icing on the cake is the Low RPM of 2000 at which it makes this whopping torque. It has a rack and pinion power assisted steering. It has a small turning radius for its class at only 5.3mts. It is equipped with Ventilated disks all around which does a very good job of stopping the vehicle to a stop in a rather positive manner.
Nissan X-Trail’ engine is so powerful that it makes the car run efficiently in the muddy areas as well as on the highways. The shifting patterns are very smooth. The vehicle gets very high acceleration with the combination of the engine & the gear box. Fuel consumption is excellent.
