Ford India in its aim to capture the hearts of Indian Urban youth, launched its latest car Figo in 2010. It is the first small car introduced by Ford in India. Ford designed Figo well enough to make it a good car for the city travel and to meet the needs of Indian customers. On the whole, Ford is a car that can be driven comfortably, can be maintained easily and most spacious car in its class.
Design and Features:
The large trapezoidal lower grille, the sloping roofline, the sculpted side panels give Figo a dynamic look whether in motion or at a stand still. The design of the Figo may not be excellent, but it is not disappointing. It is built on a 2498 mm wheelbase.
Even the interiors are not very luxurious, but altogether it looks good. All models are featured with black-themed interiors, highlighted with red or blue accents and on ZXI and Titanium models, two different interior finishes, a very peppy Coral IP theme and an Ebony Black one with matt finish are available. There is enough headroom and legroom. The car can accommodate 5 persons. The space at the rear provides a lot of space for the luggage. The rear seat can even be folded flat for extra luggage space. A high performance Air Conditioner, MP3 Player, and a radio with 4 speakers for entertainment are also provided. EXi, ZXi and Titanium variants are featured with factory fitted integrated music system with four speakers.
Only the top variants of Figo, Titanium and ZXi come with the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Braking System (EBD), Dual SRS Airbags, Driver seat height adjustment, Engine Immobilizer, Bluetooth Phone Interface, and Remote Central Locking.
Driving abilities and comfort:
Slip behind the wheel and one would get the feel of a nimble, well engineered steering and suspension system. The steering is light and precise with a good sense of control. The suspension has been optimized to offer comfortable ride without compromising on body roll and handling. The vehicle is stable even at three digit speeds. The driving seat height adjustment adds to the comfort of the driver.
Figo also offers some intelligent features that ensure to the driver’s ability and convenience. The first being the Smart Programmable Remote key that allows to unlock all four doors at a time or just the driver’s door only through a button on the key. The Distance to Empty feature tells how many Kilometres you can go with the available fuel in tank. The 6 Speed Intermittent Wiper gives the choice of 6 different speeds to cope with the intensity of rainfall. The Speed Sensing Volume Control to compensate road noise automatically as the speed is gained. The sudden braking at speeds greater than 96 kmph will activate the hazard warning lamps to warn trailing drivers this is called the Rapid Deceleration Warning feature.
The petrol variants come with 1.2 Duratec engine and the diesel variants have the 1.4 Duratorq engines. The petrol engine with SEFI technology pumps a power of 70 bhp at 6,250 rpm and a torque of 102 Nm at 4000 rpm. The common rail diesel engine has a power of 68 bhp at 4,000 rpm and a torque of 160 Nm at 2000 rpm. Both variants come with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engines coupled with the transmission deliver good performance in both city and highway.
Ford Figo is available in 8 variants, 4 of petrol and 4 of diesel:

The prices of the different variants of Figo range from Rs. 3 lakhs to Rs. 6 Lakhs.
Petrol Variants- from Rs. 3.5 Lakhs to 4.5 Lakhs.
Diesel Variants- from Rs. 4.5 Lakhs to 5.5 Lakhs.
The Ford Figo has excellent engines at an aggressive price and terrific fuel economy.
