Mitsubishi Montero, a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was launched in 2006 in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), by Hindustan Motors (HM) in alliance with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC). The car is equipped with the features that are found in any international model. But they have been specially designed to suit the Indian road conditions and Indian consumers. Mitsubishi Montero’s is a monocoque body, with impressive exterior features that include big auto delay off xenon head lamps, front fog lamps, chrome front grill, air intake ducts and sporty wheel cover at the rear. For easy entry and exit, steps are provided on both the sides.
This SUV can comfortably accommodate 7 passengers. Its interiors are very comfortable, spacious and luxurious. The seats are supportive. The front seats are extremely comfortable and are equipped with four-way power adjusters, the second row seats can be folded and the third row seats can be completely removed or folded. The second row provides enough leg room, but the base is too low and under-thigh support is not taken care of. The third row seats are sufficient only for a couple of kids.
The Mitsubishi Montero, comes with a powerful 3.2L 4-Cylinder DOHC inter-cooled turbocharged diesel engine, which churns out a power of 165 PS @ 3500 rpm and a peak torque of 383 Nm @ 2000 rpm. 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission options are the available variants. The car hits a top whack of 170 km/h.
